Therme has announced a partnership with US-based health tech company Phy Health, bringing revolutionary new body scanning technology to Therme Bucharest.

Philipp Treml, Global VP of Corporate & Tech Ventures at Therme Group commented;

"At Therme Group, we're excited to lead innovative partnerships focused on enhancing guest wellbeing. With Phy at Therme, we're expanding our preventative health efforts, beginning with the launch of this remarkable technology into Therme Bucharest. Together, we're committed to shaping a future where wellness is a journey rooted in innovation and care."

This first of its kind in Europe, the cutting-edge technology offers guests customised wellness plans, including exercise routines designed to correct specific postural issues and spa treatments focused on targeted areas. The 3D body scanning technology provides a detailed understanding of body geometry, with the technology helping to identify physical imbalances or misalignments.

Phy allows guests to undergo a full body scan which assesses their skeletal, muscular and myofascial health. The assessment takes only 30 seconds to map millions of data points and deliver a 3D model of the client’s body. It then produces a personalised in-depth report and movement plan. This includes a six week programme of custom exercises which can improve flexibility as well as boost an individual’s performance and overall health.

Jeff Burde, Co-Founder and President of Phy Health said;

“We at Phy Health are excited to announce our global partnership with Therme Group, a leader in exceptional wellbeing experiences. Phy’s state-of-the-art technology provides an AI-driven 3D assessment of the body, providing insights and recommendations to help Therme customers maximize their movement health. Our goal is to further enhance the elevated wellness experiences at Therme. We look forward to a fruitful partnership and a healthier future for all our clients.”

The Phy pod was designed and 3D printed onsite by FabPub using industrially compostable material.

The Phy pod was designed and 3D printed on-site by FabPub (Fabrication Public), a joint venture between Therme Group and Mamou-Mani Architects and led by Arthur Mamou-Mani. Their expert team of in-house digital fabrication and material experts design and deliver intricate technical ideas for internal and external architectural systems in Therme resorts.

Arthur Mamou-Mani, Founder of FabPub, commented;

"The Phy Pod is everything FabPub stands for. It is circular – we’ve re-purposed modules previously used at the Design Museum in London as part of our Aurora installation with Dassault Systeme. We tested the 3D printed modules on-site and re-printed them locally at our FabPub in Bucharest, based on what we learned by using the pod. Using bioplastics, the modules are made from a combination of fermented sugar-based PLA and wood flour (renewable resources) and are industrially compostable.

The PLA bioplastic uses 80% less carbon in its production than its petroleum counterparts and does not contain the Bisphenol A (BPA) - a hormone disruptor found in petroleum-based plastics. The Phy pod is such a good illustration and symbol of the Therme ecosystem and values. Made with bio-based materials that are re-used and locally printed, it is used to scan people and provide A.I. based therapy to prevent, not just cure."

Welcoming hundreds of guests a week, Phy at Therme Bucharest positions Therme as being at the forefront of pioneering health technology, helping to elevate our guests' wellbeing journey and paving the way for a healthier future.

Customers use the 3D body scanning technology to gain detailed understanding of their body geometry, helping to identify physical imbalances or misalignments.
