Therme U.S. Hosts Deanwood Community Design Workshop

The Therme U.S. team hosted a community event in partnership with the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) at the Deanwood Recreation Center in Ward 7!

We joined DPR Acting Director Thennie Freeman and campers from Deanwood’s Discovery Camp to explore what the concept of “wellness” means to them. Through an interactive workshop, campers were able to design their own D.C.-based urban wellness space. The campers came up with some fabulous ideas, and it was wonderful to see their unique takes on what wellness could look like in their community.

The Therme team also participated in an engaging conversation with D.C. residents, including neighborhood leaders, about what a Therme D.C. could mean for the local community. Topics ranged from how a Therme facility would create jobs for D.C. residents, investing and enhancing the waterfront public realm, and how we would partner with local organizations to ensure the facility is accessible to all.

We concluded the event by distributing popsicles and more than one hundred backpacks to families ahead of the start of the new school year.
