DALLAS — August 20, 2026 — The Dallas City Plan Commission today approved Therme Group’s zoning change request, an important milestone toward developing a world-class wellbeing destination along the Trinity River near the new Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

“Therme is committed to the City of Dallas and eager to advance a project that will create hundreds of jobs, generate millions of dollars in new tax revenue and deliver a wellbeing destination unlike any other in the United States. Today’s approval reflects the considerable work undertaken with City planning staff and community leaders. We look forward to continuing through the public approval process and presenting our plans to the Dallas City Council.”

John Alschuler, Executive Chairman of Therme Group US

Therme has worked closely with the City of Dallas planning staff and Joanna Hampton, District 2 City Plan Commissioner, to refine its development plans. The company remains committed to the proposed site because of its unique ability to connect a vibrant, newly activated convention center district with South Dallas, which has long been separated from the city’s downtown corridor.

“City Manager Kim Tolbert and Council Member Jesse Moreno have demonstrated tremendous leadership throughout this process and recognize the lasting value Therme can bring to Dallas. As conversations continue about the future of downtown, we are more committed than ever to our site along the Trinity River. We strongly believe Dallas is positioned to become one of the world’s great global cities in the decades ahead.”

Therme Group welcomes 5.5M visitors annually, across 5 locations in Germany and Romania.

Since announcing its interest in Dallas in March 2025, Therme Group has achieved several significant global milestones:

  • In 2025, Therme Group and CVC partnered on a €1 Billion Therme Horizon joint venture including Therme Erding in Germany and Therme Bucharest in Romania, two of Europe’s most visited wellbeing destinations. This year, Therme Horizon acquired three more wellbeing resorts in Germany from the Josef Wund Foundation.
  • Therme Manchester broke ground in September 2025, having secured an equity co-investment from CVC
  • Therme Group was selected by the Singapore Tourism Board to develop a destination at Marina South; the 720,000-square-foot project broke ground in June 2026
  • Therme Group and The Georgetown Company formed Therme Atlas, a joint venture to co-develop several sites across the US. The Georgetown Company owns 26% equity stake in the joint venture.

In addition to Dallas, Therme has developments underway or planned in Manchester, Frankfurt, Toronto, Washington, D.C., Singapore, Dubai and Incheon.

The City Plan Commission’s action advances the zoning request to the Dallas City Council for consideration this fall.
